Research from blinds specialists, Blinds Hut, has analysed Google Searches over a three-month period to uncover which items of furniture we’ve been buying throughout lockdown. See: The 10 most popular interior design trends for 2020 It emerged that we like to relax in style as ‘recliner sun lounger’ has seen the biggest rise in interest, with Google searches increasing by a staggering amount (10,244%) over a three-month period. The second most popular furniture style we’ve got been indulging in is a ‘rattan furniture set’, with Google searches increasing 10,154% over a three-month period; indeed rattan and wicker are one of the biggest home interior trends for spring/summer. The third, fourth and fifth most popular furniture pieces we’ve been buying are ‘garden sofa set’, ‘foldaway garden furniture’ and ‘garden armchair’ – increasing by 2414%, 1757% and 710% retrospectively. It seems our outdoor space has become increasingly important and creating a chic garden retreat is top of our makeover list. Those that are working from home have also been purchasing furniture with ‘adjustable laptop desk’ coming in sixth place, increasing by 700%.
